The 2009 Manama Premier League (MPL) is the First season started by the Indian Star & SuperKings Cricket Team in 2009. Many local bahrain teams are participating in this Cricketing event, the matches will be played every Friday for almost four months.

The participating teams are divided into two groups. The competition starts with a single round robin group stage, in which each of the teams plays a match against every other team. These matches will follow by two semi-finals and a final.

This Season, is back with most exciting cricketing event, and check this website for the regular updates on bahraincricket.com. MPL 2009 is expected to be more successful this year & upcoming year as many new teams and Player will play this season.

MPL play grounds are Manama, Juffair & Hidd. Lets see what happens in MPL 2009, as nothing can be predicted in the game of cricket.

Solid platform lead by Swapnil

In a do or die match situation for JAI MAHARASHTRA & SUPER KING, JM registered a emphatic win to beat Super King. Solid platform lead by Swapnil ( 25)& Raju ( 39) & a timely knock from the Captain (49) ,Jacinto with some fluent batting display. Short but entertaining innings of 34(11) of Sam gave a victory target of 175 runs. In reply, SK were 67/1 in 8th over, but good bowling performance from Sam (15/3),good line& length from Amit & swapnil ( 2/28) & Arvinda’s Left arm pace figures of(3/35) out SK TO 134. Super kings outplay Rockers
After a solid performance by their batsmen, Super kings turned in a superb bowling display to beat rockers by 80 runs in their fourth match of the MPL2009 in HIDD. A quick knock from Ruban (53 off 20) was followed by aggressive contributions from Abithoss(50 off 26) and Jailani (32 off 14) as Super Kings finished on a competitive 154 for 4. The Rockers chase received an early jolt when Mustafa and Mohammed was out cheaply. Super kings struck at regular intervals and a 28-run from David was the highest score for Rockers, managed 74 runs for 10, which gave another bigger margin victory to Super kings.News by MPL

MXI remain unconquered, JABBAR Leads to 5th win in a row
An impressive all-round display helped the MXI book their place in the semi-finals with a 52-run win over the Rockers. JABBAR, was the star of the show, top scoring with 75 off 29 balls and picking up two wickets in his four overs. The MXI had been unconquered in five matches so far in the tournament. The MXI, next take Ramee Group in the first semi final on friday.

Cricket itself is an unpredictable
After today’s victory, SuperKings Captain said that Cricket itself is an unpredictable game always. Luck plays a big role & that unpredictable out come makes it a special game. Those who play well on that particular day will win, if not game goes to sudden death type of situation. Anyway I am in confidence that our batting & bowling Kings order will show big on the ground and gives tough to opponent team which makes game more interest. There was no case of second-time-unlucky for Ruban, and a blazing 3rd half century pushed SuperKings to victory combined with Abidas who played second match in this tournament. A blistering 73* from Asif and an aggressive 73 from Imran shut Shaheen Group Cricket Team out of the MPL2009 in HIDD as BPL rock boys punished their bowlers, scoring a mammoth 183/5 and Shaheen group were all out for 66 runs. This win came at crucial time for BPL Rock Boys.

Bohra Boys first big win in the season
The battle between the bottom two teams in the Group B ended with Bohra Boys completing a 50-run victory against the Tabreed Bahrain in Juffair. It was Bohra Boy's first victory in the league, after four defeats. Bohra Boy's batting clicked after they were decided into bat and substantial contributions from Om helped them to a competitive 128 in 16 overs. 4th win in a row sends MXI into Semi Final
MXI secured a place in semi final of MPL 2009 when they won against Super kings on 14th August 2009 at HIDD. Super kings won the toss and elected to bat, with their strong batting line up. The brilliant 40 runs from Ruban gave super kings a decent score of 118 in 16 overs, but it was a easy victory for MXI which was set up by two outstanding performances from Mauzzam (49 runs with 4 sixes) and Sarfaraj (44 runs with 6 Sixes). MXI racked up a 6 wicket win against Super Kings on their league matches.

MXI & Indian Star secured a place in semi final
In Group A, with four continuous victories MXI secured a place in semi final. For the second team there is a race between Jai Maharashtra and Super Kings. The match between Jai Maharashtra versus Super kings on 28th Aug 2009 will be the deciding match for second semi finalist in Group A. In Group B, BPL Rock Boys finished there league matches with Four win and a loss with a net run rate of 2.725( Indian Star net run rate 2.837) which secured a place for Indian Star in semi final and for second team, either BPL Rock Boys or Ramee Group will get a place, which will be decided on 21st August 2009.

Ghanthan pleased with depth in Super kings batting
Joe(66), Ruban(60) & Rajesh(56) hammered fine Half centuries to help Super kings to post highest total of 213 runs in the MPL2009, in the second league match against Team Infomate on 07th August 2009. A disciplined bowling effort and a quick knock 25 run from Patrick set up a crucial victory for Jai Maharashtra in MPL 2009 against Riffa Young Star at Juffair. Three Kings made 3 half century record in Hidd
